Now, I’m not someone who knows every detail of the Mortal Kombat universe. However, here is my Mortal Kombat II movie review. I remember playing the games over the years, and I enjoyed the previous movie in this series. I even liked the older Mortal Kombat movie, so I’ve always enjoyed the franchise.
What stood out to me most in Mortal Kombat 2 was the pacing. The story moved along at a good speed, and there was never a moment when I felt confused, bored, or frustrated. Everything flowed naturally, and the movie kept my attention from beginning to end.
The fight scenes were great overall, and I thought the visual effects looked great. The writing was solid, and I enjoyed seeing the different characters interact throughout the story. My husband pointed out that some of the tournament stages were pulled directly from the video games. I didn’t remember many of them myself, but it was really cool learning that. He even mentioned that one of the stages was a hidden bonus stage that players could only access by meeting certain conditions in the game.
My favorite character was Kitana. I’ve always liked her character and storyline, and I enjoyed seeing her role in this movie.
This installment also introduced Johnny Cage, and it was fun finally getting to see him join the action.
Overall, I definitely recommend watching Mortal Kombat II. I didn’t feel like we wasted our money. We purchased the movie at home. (Birthday month festivities.)

I really hope they make a third movie because I want to see where the story goes from here.

One thing I really didn’t like was what happened to Raiden and it was quick. I mean…I get it though, but everything worked out with him in the end.
I hated what happened Liu Kang the best fighter, I mean I get it…he has to get his brother. Not everyone can win. LOL.
I’m also very curious about how the story plans to bring some of the champions back. If characters return from the dead, underworld, wherever they are, does the person who resurrects them determine whether they come back as heroes or villains? I’m interested to see how that works moving forward.
Despite all of that, I get those are things that have to happen in the story, LOL. I still had a great time with the movie and left excited to see what happens next. If a third installment gets made, I’ll definitely be watching!
